Lavender Rose Scones

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tablespoon Flower Power spice blend

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes

  • 2/3 cup whole milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For Glaze (Optional):

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the Dry Ingredients:

    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, Flower Power, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Incorporate Butter:

    • Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Combine Wet Ingredients:

    • In a separate bowl, mix together the milk and vanilla extract.

  5. Form the Dough:

    • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.

  6. Shape and Cut the Scones:

    • Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Use a round biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out scones. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet.

  7. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the scones are golden brown on the edges.

  8. Optional Glaze:

    • If desired, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones.
