Lavender Rose Scones
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon Flower Power spice blend
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
2/3 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Glaze (Optional):
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Dry Ingredients:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, Flower Power, baking powder, and salt.
Incorporate Butter:
Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Combine Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, mix together the milk and vanilla extract.
Form the Dough:
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be slightly sticky.
Shape and Cut the Scones:
Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick. Use a round biscuit cutter or a glass to cut out scones. Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the scones are golden brown on the edges.
Optional Glaze:
If desired, prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones.
Serve and Enjoy:
Allow the scones to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your scones with a cup of tea or coffee.
